Financial history matters.

Looking into a candidate’s financial history gives organizations an extra layer of assurance, particularly when a job candidate will have access to money or other sensitive/valuable assets. A consumer credit report details an individual’s financial performance as reflected by one of the 3 credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax or TransUnion. It includes credit accounts (trades), their current status (current payments, late payments and charge offs, for example), public records and accounts that have been placed for collection.

A credit report is recommended for employees who will have access to sensitive company information, particularly, those with financial functions within an organization. Relevance to job function should be determined before requesting a credit report for employment purposes.

A bankruptcy search is performed at the Federal Level and reveals if a person or business has ever filed bankruptcy.

aINSIGHT will search and identify all civil lien and judgment filings for a given candidate. Searches are conducted at the state level and identify all plaintiffs, defendants, and liability amounts. Using tax lien and civil judgment records in employment screening must comply with federal and state laws. Signed candidate release forms are required before conducting any background check on your candidate.

The three major credit bureaus removed tax liens and judgments from credit reports. Therefore it is recommended to perform tax lien and judgment searches if you are hiring someone for a financial position where fiscal responsibility is predominant.
